Made infamous worldwide in 1999, Dobuita Street was home to game character Ryo Hazuki in the Dreamcast title Shenmue. Based in Yokosuka, the street is somewhat westernised due to the close proximity to a US base, including stores that accept US dollars in payment. For fans of Shenmue, the visit is much like a pilgrimage to see how accurate the games' representation was. For others, it's a unique part of Japan where American influences are seen throughout.
