Mie Prefecture (三重県, Mie-ken) is home to the Ise Jingu, Japan’s holiest shrine and dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu. And the Jingu is only just the first in a long list of a wide variety of activities Mie tourists can enjoy.
Those interested in Japanese culture might want to visit Iga Ueno Castle and the Iga-ryu Ninja Museum, as well as the World Heritage Site Kumano Kodo, an ancient pilgrimage route. For families, Nagashima Spa Land, the Suzuka Circuit, and the aquarium and hot springs in Toba might be more suitable.
