The Otozure River flows through the hot springs town of Nagato Yumoto Onsen in Yamanashi, and this winter an illumination event paired with poetry and music will be held in the area. The month-long Otozure River Light and Sound Festival will include thousands of illuminated lanterns displayed in several locations across the town, including the Otonobu River Park and Gangi Square.
Part of what makes the event so special is that the lanterns are created by local school children, providing a wonderfully authentic atmosphere. Approximately 3000 children from kindergartens, elementary, and junior high schools in Nagato City are participating.
