If you're visiting Tokyo Tower, a worthwhile addition to your trip there is a visit to Zojoji Temple. The temple has a long and rich history, but even if you're looking at it simply from an aesthetic perspective, it delivers the goods there too.
One of the first things you'll notice on the temple grounds is the view of Tokyo Tower that you get. There's something special about seeing tradition and modernity juxtaposed against each other, and it makes for a wonderful photo opportunity.
You'll also come across a number of statues on the grounds, dressed in red hats and aprons and surrounded by paper windmills. These are guardian deities for children, and they are used for several purposes. One purpose is to pray for the growth of one's children or grandchildren, but they can also signify a memorial for children lost through miscarriage or stillbirth.
交通方式
Zojoji Temple is located a five minute walk from Tokyo Tower. The closest stations are either Shibakoen or Onarimon, on the Toei Mita Line. Both stations are around seven minutes on foot away from the temple itself.
