Koishikawa Korakuen Gardens was developed around 1629 during the Edo period. The development of this Japanese style garden was actually inspired by the concepts of Shushunsui, a Chinese Confucian scholar. In the design of the gardens certain elements such as the full moon bridge are directly influenced by the Chinese style of gardening. This garden is a unique blend of both Japanese and Chinese culture. It is also one of the oldest gardens on Tokyo.
