Narrow alleys, old buildings with potted plants in front, boutiques and the delicious smell of food wafting out of kitchens—if you want to experience a traditional side of Tokyo, then you should go to Ueno! This exciting district located in the northern area of the city has a lot to offer. Walk along the narrow paths, relax at Ueno Park, visit Ueno Zoo, or enjoy a shopping spree at Ameyoko.

If you wish to stay in the centre of this vibrant area and still have easy access to other areas in Tokyo, HOTEL MYSTAYS Ueno-Iriyaguchi is the best option. The hotel is located between Ueno Station and Inaricho Station. From both stations it's only a couple of minutes on foot.

The entrance of HOTEL MYSTAYS Ueno-Iriyaguchi is not on the main road, so you won't have to hear the busy traffic from your window. Instead, you’ll enjoy a quiet atmosphere. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. They can speak English and have all the information from check-in to check-out written in English. So even if you cannot speak Japanese, there is no need to feel lost in translation.

HOTEL MYSTAYS Ueno-Iriyaguchi has 97 rooms in total, and most of them are standard double rooms, but single and three-bedroom options are also available. The interior is modern and comfortable, and every room has its own bathroom with a Japanese tub and a washlet toilet. Body soap, shampoo and conditioner can be found in the bathroom, and other amenities such as body sponges, hair brushes, coffee and tea can also be enjoyed free of charge. You can grab these from the reception. A laundry corner is located on the first floor. For ¥200 you can use the washing machine, and the dryer costs ¥100 for 30 minutes.

What I really liked about my room was the convenience of having everything I needed right there. The room had a small kitchenette and cooking utensils. If you don't want to eat outside or want to enjoy a hot coffee in the morning without having to leave your room, you can prepare everything yourself. A fridge keeps your food fresh or coffee cold if you prefer it that way. Enjoy the coffee in bed while wearing the nightwear provided, and perhaps watch a movie with the video-on-demand service that is available for ¥1000 a day until 12 pm the following the day. You can also make use of the free Wi-Fi and surf the net before heading out.

I enjoyed my visit at HOTEL MYSTAYS Ueno-Iriyaguchi very much and would definitely book again at one of their nationwide locations.
