Lake Tazawa was voted one of Japan's 100 Best Landscapes. The lake's cobalt blue water is so transparent that you can clearly see the fish swimming under the water's surface.
The lake has a maximum depth of 423.4 m, making it the deepest lake in Japan. The water changes color from sky blue to turquoise and indigo the deeper the water gets.
