Blue Hour of Unzen in Nagasaki

From starry sky to morning glow

These are the photos I took of the sunrise and sunset over Mount Unzen and the mud flats of Isahaya in Nagasaki on December 26th and 27th in 2014.

Shirakimine Highland is located on the other side of Shimabara peninsula, with Isahaya Bay in-between. I photographed the same place from almost the same angle in the hours from dark starry night through to the glorious morning. I also visited here three years ago, and saw such a dramatic dawn it left me speechless. The beauty I witnessed here has been on my mind, and I'd like to share with you the fantastic view I can never cease to love!
